Bradford City appoint former Mansfield Town and Wigan Athletic …
Bradford City have made a significant move in their bid to climb the League Two table, appointing former Mansfield Town and Wigan Athletic supremo, Paul Scholes, as their new manager.
The 48-year-old, who has previously managed the Stags and the Latics, has signed a two-year deal with the Bantams, with the option of a further year.
Scholes has a wealth of experience in the Football League, having managed Mansfield Town for three seasons and Wigan Athletic for two.
He takes over at Valley Parade, replacing Stuart McCall, who left the club by mutual consent earlier this month.
Scholes has promised to bring a new style of play to the club, saying: “I’m excited to be here and I’m looking forward to working with the players and staff to take the club forward.
Scholes has also spoken about his plans for the club, saying: “We’ll be looking to play a more attractive brand of football, with a focus on possession and creativity.
Scholes has a reputation for being a shrewd operator in the transfer market, and he has already started to work on strengthening the squad.
Scholes has also spoken about his plans for the club’s youth academy, saying: “We’ll be looking to develop our young players and give them opportunities to break into the first team.
